The A&CR was fictionally established In 1985 by a few enthusiasts. Mostly Henry Reaid. It was a successor of the former line called the Annapolis, Laurel & Patuxent Short Line Railroad which was established in 1857.

Screenshot 2026-03-31 14.45.24.png

It's based in Laurel, MD right where the Baltimore & Ohio's Washington Branch is (Now CSX). They operate like an ordinary railroad but also have excursions from time to time.

The line serves, Steam (Main operations almost), Diesel & Electric Locomotives. As of right now, all steam engines have been converted to oil burners.

The line has also absorbed old and declining lines, most notably the Herbert Subdivision in 2021.

  • The counties in the pope creek branchline area acquires the pope line for a rail trail. A&CR and the counties would collab for a trail-by-rail run. A&CR seeked the branch as an opportunity to use the 48 mile line as a restoration to passenger service (After the successful tourism route to Salisbury. The branch hasn’t seen passenger traffic since the late 40s). which means restoring some of the line and using steam locos as excursions. They would also acquire rights for the Herbert Brandywine branch.

  • East Washington Railway No. 103 was rescued from Pasadena, Texas prior to an accident that cracked its frame. The crew refused to give up and after the private owner that bought the engine in 2000, some years later (2013) donated the engine to A&CR, Its body was separated from the frame & both parts were brought to Woodstock Workshops Facility and 103 was overhauled in under 10 years and became a switcher at the facility.
